  • ‌Drugs – Any medicines or drugs that increase oestrogen in your body could lead to the development of breast cancer cells.
  • ‌Increase in oestrogen – Apart from drugs, oestrogen levels can increase in a person by diseases like Klinefelter’s syndrome. In this condition, men naturally produce more oestrogen than androgen. This is because of an extra X chromosome. Such conditions increase the risk of developing male breast cancer.
  • ‌Weight issues – Obesity is often linked with breast cancer, even in women. When there are a sudden gain in weight, oestrogen level increases in the body.

Treatments For Male Breast Cancer

There are different treatment options available for male breast cancer. A few common treatment methods involved as per the stage of cancer are mentioned below:

‌1. Tumor removal surgery – The surgery is done to remove the tumor that develops in the breast tissue. Either the complete breast tissue is removed, including the nipples or a few lymph are removed where the tumor is growing. This is done in the early Stages Of Breast Cancer.

‌2. Radiations – In this treatment method, radiations are used to kill the cells that could be cancerous. Radiation therapy is used after surgery to remove any remaining cells that could form a lump again. Radiations are used for cancer stages that have gone beyond the second stage.

‌3. Chemotherapy – It is the most sought after treatments for male breast cancer. Chemotherapy is used to kill cancer cells. In this method, strong chemical drugs are used. Chemo is usually used for cancer patients in the third or final stage of the disease.


Male Breast cancer is a rare cancer type, but it exists. It is as serious as breast cancer in women and could be fatal. If you show any symptoms, there is no harm in consulting a doctor right away.
